Remarks:
Chaplain Isaiah N. Kieffer (1843-1898), best known as a local Lutheran minister. Entered military service in the Civil War at age 19 as a musician in the120th and 169th Infantry. Discharged in 1863 on surgeon’s certificate of disability. Joined army at time of Spanish American War as part of 8th O.V.I., serving as Chaplain. During Spanish American War military service he died of a heart attack at Camp Alger in 1898.
