Dallin (On proper right side of bronze base:) Gorham Co. founders (On plaque on front of base:) THIS STATUE/HAS BEEN ERECTED/IN LOVING MEMORY OF/EDMUND BURKE BALL/1856/BY/HIS WIFE AND CHILDREN (On back of base:) REPLICA OF THE ORIGINAL STATUE/OWNED BY THE MUSEUM OF FINE ARTS, BOSTON signed Founder's mark appears.
    A Native American astride a horse with his arms extended and his face turned toward the sky. He wears a feathered headdress, a loincloth, moccasins, and a long pendant.

    The sculpture was donated by Mrs. Edmund Burke Ball and her children in honor of her husband, Muncie manufacturer and civic benefactor.
