Description:
Portrait of General Douglas MacArthur dressed in full uniform with hat, standing "at attention" his hands at his sides. The statue is part of a larger exedra and fountain pool setting. The exedra wall contains quotes from MacArthur as a soldier and statesman. The fountain pool (no longer operating) contains shapes representing the Pacific Islands.

Remarks:
The statue of MacArthur was done by Roger Noble Burnham and the monument was designed by Harold Field Kellogg. The memorial was vandalized in the 1980s. IAS files contain copy of Municipal Art Department Inventory form; an excerpt from Merrill A. Reed's "Historical Statues and Monuments in California," and newspaper clippings from the Los Angeles Times.
