    Remarks:
The sculpture cost $2,700 and honors men from Frenchtown who served during World War I. The Edith Ort Thomas School was originally named Frenchtown Elementary School. IAS files contain related articles from the Star-Ledger (Hunterdon, Warren & Sussex Counties Edition), Oct. 25, 1995; and the Hunterdon County Democrat, Nov. 16, 1995, pg. A-13N.
In the summer of 1995, the sculpture was refurbished and cleaned by Easton Memorial Finishing Works (Easton, PA). The rifle end was refashioned and attached, and the sculpture was sandblasted and buffed. A new plaque honoring veterans of subsequent wars was added and on Veterans Day, November 11, 1995, the sculpture was rededicated.
