    Description: 
    Walking figure of World War I soldier in combat uniform and helmet. Carries a knapsack on his back, and holds a bayonet in proper left hand. Proper right hand is raised and holds a small unidentified object.

    Remarks: 
    A committee was formed in the Pacific Community for the purpose raising funds for the Doughboy statue. A total of $3,000 was raised through private donations. IAS files contain a copy of the handbill used to solicit donations, and a photocopy of four photographs taken the day of the dedication. IAS files also contain copied excerpts of the book "We are Olympia" which pertain to the monument, as well as the names which appear on the monument.
