According to the press release, the statue was the first erected in the state to honor a Nevadan, and the first anywhere singling out a gambler. In July 2008, the statue of Benny Binion was relocated from the corner of Ogden and Casino Center Boulevard to the interior of South Point Hotel, Casino and Spa where it was installed at the entrance to the equestrian center.
