    Description: 
    World War I soldier in uniform with a gun his proper left hand. His proper right hand is raised over his head holding a grenade. His stance is active, with proper left foot forward, proper right foot with toe touching the ground. Two short stumps surround his feet.

    Remarks: 
    IAS files contain a copy of the dedication ceremony program from 1923. 525 men served in World War I from St. Albans and its vicinity. 26 gave their lives. In honor of these men, the Green Mountain Post No. 1 American Legion, religious, fraternal, and social organizations and more than 4,300 men, women and children contributed funds to erect the monument.
