Description:
Slocum is seated on a walking horse caught in mid-stride. In his proper left hand he holds the reins and in his proper right hand he holds up a sword. On the front of the base is an eagle and on the left side of the base are two medallions.

Provenance:
Formerly located Junction of Eastern Parkway & Bedford Avenue, until late 1920s.
Remarks:
Cost $27,000. The monument was purchased by the city in 1905. James R. Cocroft was contractor for the base. M. R. Giusti was the sculptor of the bronze embellishments on the pedestal.
