Description:
Colorful ceramic tile mural located on a stairwell wall. The mural includes abstract figures from a Salish basket design, a marine architect's drawings of a dugout canoe and the design of a 1800's vintage quilt pattern. The mural is outlined in light blue tiles; the figures are in gold and brown, the dugout canoe drawings are rendered in white and blue. The background color for the mural is dark blue. A separate mural is located to the west of the main mural. The mural is long and narrow. It consists of black and white tiles which depict the Straits of Juan de Fuca. Both tile murals are mounted in a brick wall.

Remarks:
The mural is part of the Metro Bus Tunnel project, and was funded by METRO. IAS files contain copy of related material from METRO's publication "An Extraordinary Guide to Seattle's New Underground: A self-guided tour of art and architecture in Metro's transit tunnel". "Metro Station Artworks" is the title given by Rupp.
