    Description: 
    Full-length oversize silhouette of a man hammering. The figure is seen in profile and holds a hammer in one hand. The arm that holds the hammer is mechanized with a motor, causing it to raise and lower four times a minute. The sculpture is made of hollow fabricated steel and is painted black. The motorized arm is constructed of aluminum. The sculpture stands flush to the surrounding pavement. A structural steel plate is bolted to a cement block footing below ground level.

    The sculpture was commissioned for In Public: Seattle 1991, a project funded by the city's One Percent for Arts program, City Light One Percent for Art program and donations from the Virginia Wright Fund.
