    Remarks: 
    The sculpture was excavated and imported from Italy in the 1880s. It was purchased by Luther Kountze for his new country estate "Delbarton," and installed in the garden completed in 1890 by Stanford White. In 1925, the Kountze estate was sold to the Benedictines of St. Mary's Abbey; and, in 1939, Delbarton School was founded. IAS files contain copy of 1986/1987 Morris County Cultural Resources Survey (#1422-019); and related articles from Morristown Public Library vertical files (Delbarton School or Kountze Estate), including excerpt from Morris County Magazine, Aug. 1983.
