    (Inlaid in bronze on the lips of each pipe, on the top edges of the walls of the bridge and on the walkway surfaces are lines from Herman Melville's novel "Moby Dick") unsigned
    Description: 
    "Two similar concrete bridges consisting of angled ramps with closed sidewalls supported by a large concrete pipe. The cast concrete is colored with a salmon-rose pigment." The bridges sit directly on the ground.

    Remarks: 
    Funding for the installation was provided by NOAA. During the spring of 1981, NOAA established funding to develop an integrated plan for the entire 14-acre NOAA site. The process involved artists Martin Puryear, Scott Burton, Siah Armajani, George Trakas and Douglas Hollis. The design team was headed by The NBBJ Group, an architectural firm. IAS files contain data sheet from Art on File, c1994.
