    Remarks: 
    The sculpture project was an initiative begun by Vincenzo Giuliano, editor of Detroit's Italian Tribune of America, to honor Columbus on the 400th anniversary of his death. When the sculpture was relocated in 1987, a bronze plaque that had been stolen was replaced, and a second plaque was added to the base.
