    Description: 
    Standing figure of Columbus. He holds a sphere in his proper left hand. He looks off to his proper right, in the same direction as his proper right arm extends and proper right index finger points.

    Remarks: 
    Donated by residents of Elmwood neighborhood of Providence. Replica. Original was cast in solid sterling silver by Gorham Company and shown at the World's Columbian Exposition, Chicago, 1893. Prior to the statue's erection, the park was known as Elmwood Park.
