IAS
files also contain copy of dedication pamphlet. The statue was erected by a group of Italian Minnesotans. The commission was awarded to Brioschi on Jan. 5, 1930. At least two smaller scale clay models were made. A plaster cast was shipped to Roman Bronze Works for casting. The granite base was cut from plaster models according to plans made by C. H. Johnston. The foundation for the memorial was started July 8th, 1931. The erection of the pedestal began in Sept. 1931. A time capsule with all documents, records and photographs relating to the erection of the monument was secured in the pedestal on Sept. 26, 1931. The statue was unveiled Oct. 12, 1931.
