Remarks:
The sculpture is a copy of an original 1936 concrete sculpture by Palo-Kangas (see CA002076). The lindenwood copy was carved under the direction of Rubottom who was assisted by members of the Channel Island Carvers. Cost of the sculpture was $4,000, which was funded by the city. The wood sculpture was created to serve as a mold for a 1988 cast bronze sculpture which replaced the original concrete sculpture (see CA002078). After the mold was taken, the wood sculpture was installed on permanent display inside the City Hall atrium art gallery.
