Remarks:
This sculpture of Polish nobleman Count Kasimierz
Pulaski
, who joined American troops in their quest for independence, was commissioned by the Americans of Polish Descent. The sculpture is a good example of Federici's characteristic interest in historical accuracy. In preparation for the sculpture, he studied other portraits of
Pulaski
, as well as samples of cloth used during the Revolutionary War period. IAS files contain an excerpt from Flavia Alaya's "Gaetano Federici: 1880-1964 The Artist As Historian," Paterson, NJ: Passaic County Historical Society, 1980, pg. 55.
