Description:
A pioneer family consisting of a man standing with a rifle in his proper left hand and his proper right hand resting on the proper right shoulder of his wife who is seated in front of him. Their daughter sits on the mother's lap holding an open book on her lap. The man wears a fur cap and fringed clothing and knee-high boots with a powder horn strapped around his torso and resting at his proper right hip. The woman wears a bonnet and raises her proper right hand to her shoulder to touch the man's hand. The child wears a bonnet and dress. The sculpture is mounted on a circular base with a tiered top made out of irregular stones.
