    Installed high above the main entrance is a standing portrait of King Edward I holding a staff to his chest with his proper left hand. In his proper right hand he holds a scroll. He has a beard and moustache, and is dressed in long belted robes and a crown.

    Remarks: 
    One of six courthouse sculptures of men known for their development of law on English soil. The sculptures are installed on the cornice above the main entrance to the courthouse. King Edward I (1239-1307) gave the people the right to determine taxation. He is known for English judicial organization and reform. Lehman & Schmidt were the architects of the courthouse.
