General
Thomas E. G. Ransom commanded a brigade of the Union Army during the Vicksburg campaign. He was later promoted to Major
General
. He died on October 29, 1864. Erected by the federal government. The monument is on the National Park Service List of Classified Structures (LCS no. 03337). IAS files contain a copy of the LCS report form. Bronze cost $575 paid by Federal Government.
