Remarks:  Exhibited Art Institute of Chicago, Nov. 2-Dec. 7, 1916, #295. This bust of Dr. John Allan Wyeth of Alabama, founder of the Polyclinic Graduate Medical School and Hospital in 1881, was formerly located in the main hall of this institution. The bust was unveiled at the Polyclinic Hospital on May 1, 1914. The hospital closed in 1976 and the bust was relocated to the New York Academy of Medicine. Inscription on original stone base read: JOHN ALLAN WYETH MD LLD / SURGEON, AUTHOR, TEACHER / IN RECOGNITION OF / HIS PRE-EMINENCE AS / FOREMOST FOUNDER AND / SURGEON-IN-CHIEF / OF THIS INSTITUTION / THIS TESTIMONIAL / IS DEDICATED BY THE / POLYCLINIC MEDICAL STAFF / MCMXIV.
