    (South pier on bronze plaque, raised:) ERECTED BY THE/WESTVILLE SOLDIERS MEMORIAL/ASSOCIATION/ TO COMMEMORATE THOSE WHO ENLISTED/FROM THIS PLACE IN THE/WAR OF 1861-1865 (followed by 32 names in two columns) (On exedra floor, bronze lettering:) SOLDIERS' MEMORIAL/A.D. 1915 unsigned
    Description: 
    Two square piers flanked by curved wings with seats which terminate in shorter, rounded piers (H. 5 ft.) The masonry trim on the wing walls and floor is concrete. The piers, wings and floor are trap rock ashlar. The top part of each tall pier is paneled with cast concrete. The front panel on each bears a relief of the Connecticut seal (north pier) and United States seal (south pier). On the front face of each pier are bronze plaques bearing inscriptions.
