    Remarks:
The house on which the bust resides was built for James Pinchot, father of Gifford Pinchot, forester and governor of Pennsylvania. James Pinchot was 1st generation Franco-American, and the style of the house is reflective of French chateaux. The choice of Lafayette as a subject of the bust reflects the French heritage of the family. IAS files contain copy of related excerpt from Historic Structure Report: Grey Towers (US Agriculture Forest Service, 1979).
