    Description: 
    Full-length figure of a French soldier wearing a World War I uniform. He holds a rifle in his proper left hand, extended behind. In his proper right hand, he holds a wreath of olive branches. He looks up at the wreath, and appears to be in motion.

    Originally located in France, this sculpture is surrounded by a garden and a low wrought-iron fence. Inscription on nearby plaque reads: THIS AUTHENTIC FRENCH SCULPTURE WAS/CREATED IN 1919 BY E. W. G. BENET. THE/STATUE WAS INITIALLY DEDICATED BY THE/ARTIST TO THE TENS OF THOUSANDS OF/ELDERLY FRENCH SOLDIERS WHO DIED IN/THE TRENCHES DURING THE FIRST WORLD/WAR.
