    Description: 
    Limestone reliefs in recessed, rectangular panels, decorate the facade of the courthouse. The reliefs depict heraldic shields, seals, coats of arms, and symbolic representations associated with Alabama history. Subjects depicted include: Mercy; Justice; Power; Vigilance; Indian Domain; Coming of the White Man; and English, American, French, Spanish, and Confederate Governments. Each of these subjects is symbolized by one or two figures, surrounded by stylized elements of nature and history. The panels are located near the building's cornice above the 6th floor windows and are symmetrically arranged with the majority on the entrance facades facing Linn Park and 21st Street.
