    copyright by Solon H. Borglum Sculptor Roman Bronze Works (Plaque on rear of base gives biography of Gordon, highlighting his education and military career) signed Founder's mark appears.
    Description: 
    A portrait of John B. Gordon astride his war horse. He is dressed in his military uniform. A sheathed sword hangs at his proper left side. He grasps the reins of his horse in his proper left hand. He holds a hat in his gloved proper right hand. The sculpture sits atop a base with two relief plaques. One relief depicts Gordon standing between two seated females in Roman attire. The other relief depict a scene from the Battle of Spottsylvania.
