    Description:
A sculpture honoring those who served for the Union during the Civil War, consisting of a nude adolescent boy, in bronze, on a short tapered base in front of a tall, shaft topped by a bronze eagle. The eagle is perched on a fasces with head turned to the proper left. The boy stands at attention holding a rolled flag and saber horizontally against his chest with both arms. He stands in front of a shield nearly his height. Fabric drapes over the boy's proper left shoulder, around his back and over the shield. Two tablets commemorating the Spanish-American War, World War I, World War II, the Korean and Vietnam Wars flank the sculpture. The sculpture and tablets are mounted on a short base with a step in the front and a square projection at each front corner. Each projection is topped by a bronze cannonball and chain.

    Remarks:
Sculpture was a gift of William Andrew Ferris in honor of Crosby Post No. 302, Grand Army of the Republic. The model for the boy was a member of one of the local Little League programs. Sculpture was originally dedicated in May of 1933. Tablets commemorating later wars (the Spanish American War, World War I, World II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War) were added and dedicated on September 21, 1981. IAS files contained detailed dimensions for tablets and base.
