Description:
Full-length standing figure of William McKinley wearing a suit, an open overcoat, and holding a top hat in his proper left hand. A
shield
leans against his proper left foot. The figure stands on a pedestal which stands on a tiered base. Objects near the figure and on the tiered base include a torch supported by the wing of an eagle, a Bible, a Cross, tablets of the Ten Commandments, scythe, cornucopia and a hammer. A Boathowitzer dated 1870 stands on its own tier, and has the inscription, "F.M.R.-USNY Washington 427 lbs. 26 pre N 155.

Remarks:
Erected by the citizens of Santa Clara County in memory of William McKinley (1843-1901), the twenty-fifth President of the United States, who spoke of the site in on May 13, 1901. The memorial cost $13,500. Funds were raised through public subscription. Charles Kavlet provided the decorations for the main statue. For further reading see: San Jose Mercury News, Feb. 22, 1903.
