French (On front of temple-like structure, raised:) SAMUEL BADGER (Below Badger's name on temple-like structure, incised:) DIED/SEPT. 27, 1857./AGED 63 YEARS & 10 DAYS./ERECTED 15 VESSELS. signed Description:  A portrait bust of Samuel Badger, 1794-1857, dressed in nineteenth century garb of a coat, shirt, and tie. The bust is set within a curved niche in a classical temple-like structure topped with a pediment that is decorated with a star. The front of the base is decorated with the raised image of a sailing vessel on building ways.
