Installed 1908. Digital Reference:  Medium:  Sculpture: cast iron (?); Base: concrete, stone and brick. Dimensions:  Sculpture: approx. 4 ft. x 2 ft. x 3 ft. 6 in.; Base: approx. 8 ft. x 44 in. x 64 in. Inscription:  Patented Mar. 23, 1875 (On one lion:) J.W. Fisk, (illegible) Park Place New York unsigned Founder's mark appears. Description:  Two lions sit atop pillars at entrance path to religious grotto. Subject:  Animal -- Lion Object Type:  Outdoor Sculpture -- Arizona -- Tucson Sculpture Owner:  San Xavier del Bac Mission, 1950 West San Xavier Road, Grotto, east of San Xavier del Bac Mission,, Tucson, Arizona 85746 Remarks:  The grotto was created by Bishop Henri Granja around 1905 and the lions were installed in 1908. Around 1955, Nicholas Liristis added concrete flower boxes to the shrine and probably faced lion pillars with stone at that time.
