Description:
Two large reclining horses symbolizing the might of America crossing the sea to aid its Allies are installed on rectangular bases on the plaza at the front of the War Memorial building. An eagle holding a shield depicting the Baltimore coat of arms is perched between the front legs of one
horse
and an osprey holding a shield depicting the Maryland state seal is perched between the front legs of the other
horse
. The eagle represents the Army and the osprey represents the Navy.
