Description:
Two companion sculptures featuring tigers. One sculpture depicts a tiger killing a crocodile. The tiger appears to be roaring as he stands over and claws a crocodile which is on its back. The other sculpture is of a tigress with a dead
peacock
in her mouth. She brings it to her cubs who stand at her feet.

Remarks:
Site of sculpture is a garden of The Elms, a historic mansion which houses the Preservation Society of Newport County. The Tiger sculpture was executed in 1869. Both of these pieces are copies of sculptures intended for the Tuileries Gardens in Paris.
