Remarks:
The sculpture was a gift from James H. Sorenson, Jr. in memory of his father, James H. Sorenson, Sr., and grandfather, Captain Andrew Sorenson. Captain Sorenson was considered an authority on the local waters. St. Francis is associated with creatures of the water. The artist's son, James Gutzon Borglum, was the model for the figure of the child kneeling beside St. Francis.
