    Remarks:
The project was developed as part of the One Percent for the Arts, Community Redevelopment Agency, Art in Public Places Program. The crests are used as both ornamentation and identification. The largest crest, located in the center, represents the family of the late Bob Honda, the Nisei developer of the building. The artist's own family is represented by a crest of two bamboos and an umbrella. Other crests symbolize the Little Tokyo Community Development Advisory Committee, Takei Construction, who designed the building, and Community Redevelopment Agency staff who worked on the Honda Plaza project. Good fortune and a long life are represented by the double crane; the symbol of Buddhism is depicted by the eight-section wheel to the upper right of the double crane. IAS files contain related excerpt from Michael Several's guidebook: "Little Tokyo, the Public Art of Los Angeles, Part 2," Los Angeles: Urban Art, Inc., 1994.
