Remarks:
The architectural firm of Edbrooke and Burnham of Chicago was responsible for the classic Renaissance design of the Capital. The Capital was constructed by Miles and Horne of Toledo, Ohio. The figures on the pediment represent Georgia's agriculture and commerce. $1,000,000 was provided for the construction of the Capital in 1883. The construction began in October of 1884 and was completed leaving $118.43 in the budget. IAS files contain a related excerpt from an informational brochure on the Capital Building. IAS files contain an unidentified article which gives a detailed description of the State seal.
