Description:
Relief of a battle scene is affixed to a marker. The battle scene includes uniformed soldiers on horses and standing and broken cannons. A State Seal appears on the tondo above the relief and the Corps insignia is below.

Remarks:
Monument is one of 90 honoring New York troops who participated in the Gettysburg campaign and one of 32 with bronze reliefs. It indicates the position held by the 6th New York Independent Battery on July 3, 1863. The sculpture (referred to as MN 279) is listed in the National Park Service List of Classified Structures and is referenced in the Gettysburg National Military Park Archives, vol. 24.
