    Remarks:
This piece was given to the City of New York by a group of twelve citizens, including Samuel F. B. Morse. It was originally placed in a secluded, wooded part of the park until a prominet 19th-century art critic, Clarence Cook, advocated the sculpture's relocation to a more suitable location. By 1934 the sculpture had been moved to the Central Park Zoo. SOS survey notes that the sculpture has been relocated twice and was repaired between 1934 and 1936.
