    Remarks:
The sculpture cost $3,000. It is a 1/10th scale-model replica of the Statue of Liberty by Frederic Auguste Bartholdi. The sculpture was installed by the Lions Club of McRae in Liberty Square to celebrate the 100th birthday of the Statue of Liberty. The sculpture was designed and engineered by Lions Club member Ray Bowers. Liberty's head was carved by Randy Yawn; the garments were sewn by Irene Bowers.
The sculpture was originally designed as a temporary installation, intended to last only six months. "Miss Liberty," as the sculpture is affectionately called, received such good reviews from passers-by that the Lions Club decided to have the sculpture renovated to make it permanent. The project was carried out in the spring of 1991. Luther Gatlin of Helena sprayed the body with fiberglass resin to prevent deterioration, added a steel support inside the figure and molded a fiberglass pedestal. American Yard Products fabricated a new steel base to replace the old wooden one. Lafavors Body Shop also worked on the renovation project. The sculpture was reinstalled on its new base in July of 1991 in time for McRae's Independence Day celebration.
