Description:
A
bronze
figure of Liberty standing in front of a
bronze
and marble wall with a figure of a calveryman to her proper left. His proper right hand grasps the handle of a sword by his proper left side. To her proper right is a figure of an infantryman, standing holding a rifle with both hands by the barrel. These figures are at the ends of the wall. Liberty is a draped figure holding a wreath out in each hand.

Revolution Bicentennial Commission, 1976, pg. 163-164,and a copy from "The Story of Oregon, Illinois," N.p., n.d., pg. 131-133, 155-156, discussing the monument and its dedication. The monument cost 21,000 dollars. Pond & Pond designed the exedra; Taft designed the three figures; and Zimmerman cut two figures. Work was authorized by the Ogle City Board on February 8, 1911.
