    Remarks: 
    Gift of the Minneapolis chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution to the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board. This sculpture is a copy of a statue at the Virginia State Capitol. IAS files contain an undated article from the National Republic describing the Minneapolis chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution's long history of fund raising for this sculpture; an article form the Minneapolis Sunday Tribune, Dec, 6, 193, pg.1, describing the unveiling ceremony held on Saturday, Dec. 5, 1931; and a copy of the Minneapolis Arts Commission Public Art Survey Form for city-owned artwork. According to the Minneapolis Arts Commission Public Art Survey form, the sculpture was donated on Dec. 5, 1931, but was dedicated one year later, Dec. 5, 1932, to coincide with the bicentennial of Washington's birth.
