(Below relief of Marine Corp insignia:) BROWN FIELD / IN MEMORY OF / WALTER VERNON BROWN / SECOND LIEUTENANT U.S. MARINE CORPS / KILLED WHILE FLYING AT QUANTICO, VIRGINIA / JUNE 9, 1921 / THIS TABLET IS DEDICATED TO HIS MEMORY / BY THE PERSONNEL OF THE FIELD Founder's mark appears. Description:  Memorial relief tablet featuring along the upper edge the insignia of the Marine Corps, an eagle perched atop a globe over an anchor encircled by a ribbon inscribed with SEMPER FIDELIS. Along the lower edge is a relief of an aviation badge featuring a United States shield with wings.
