    Remarks: 
    The sculpture cost $12,000. It was originally commissioned by the City of Huntington Beach for the new civic center. The sculpture was installed at its current site, after city council members decided the surfer's nudity was inappropriate for a municipal space. IAS files contain a related article from the Huntington Beach News, Jan. 25, 1979, pg. 13.
