    Remarks: 
    Erected by Perth Amboy's Tercentennial Committee. The figure's construction cost $5,000, paid with a $4,000 state grant and $1,000 in Community Development Block grant funds. The base cost another $3,000, paid with Community Development money. James Drummond, the Earl of Perth, was a Scottish nobleman and a proprietor of East Jersey in the 17th century. He served as Lord High Chancellor under King James II until the latter's abdication and died in exile in 1716. Perth Amboy is partially named in honor of Drummond. IAS files contain articles from The News Tribune (Woodbridge, NJ),Sept. 8, 1983; Sept. 24, 1983, pg. 1, 4.
