    Description: 
    Four busts, two of stainless steel and two of bronze, in a grouping. On the far left is a bronze bust of Seward Johnson, Sr., with a beard and balding head. On the inner left is a stainless steel bust of Albert Stover. On the inner right is a stainless steel bust of Clayton Link turning his head to his proper left. On the far right is a bronze bust of Edwin Link, with a partially balding head, wearing glasses. Each bust is mounted upon a pedestal.

    Remarks: 
    The sculpture commemorates the tragic loss of Albert Stover and Clayton Link, who died in a 1973 science dive in the Florida Keys when their Johnson-Sea-Link submersible became fouled in an underwater cable. The bust of Seward Johnson Sr. was created in 1974. The busts of Clayton Link and Albert Stover were created in 1975. The four busts were originally located in the Link Engineering lobby and dedicated in 1976.
    Plaque on ground in front of busts reads: SAFETY IN SEAS/THIS 1976 BRONZE AND STEEL GROUPING 'SAFETY IN SEAS,' WAS CREATED BY/SCULPTOR J. SEWARD JOHNSON JR. TO EXEMPLIFY THE GUIDING PRINCIPLE OF SAFETY/PRACTICED IN MARINE OPERATIONS BY HARBOR BRANCH OCEANOGRAPHIC INSTITUTION/INC. IT COMMEMORATES THE LIVES OF ALBERT STOVER AND CLAYTON LINK, LOST IN A/1973 SCIENCE DIVE IN THE FLORIDA KEYS WHEN THEIR SUMBMERSIBLE BECAME FOULED/IN AN UNDERWATER CABLE. AS A RESULT OF THIS TRAGIC ACCIDENT JOHNSON-SEA-/LINK SUBMERSIBLES ARE NOW EQUIPPED WITH MORE ELABORATE SAFETY SYSTEMS/PROVIDING EXTENDED UNDERWATER LIFE SUPPORT AND RESCUE CAPABILITY.
