    Description: 
    Large fountain pool with central grouping of two bears standing upright with paws around pedestal supporting two basins. Four life-size turtles and four frogs on lotus pads surround the bears at base. At either end of the fountain pool are two smaller fountains of seals perched on rocks. The fountain pool and surrounding balustrade are granite. A granite drinking fountain with commemorative text is at one end. On the drinking fountain, water falls from a lion's mouth into half-shell basin. Mermaids with plant scroll tails are carved into the side panels of the drinking fountain.

    Remarks: 
    Horace H. Rackham (1858-1933) served as first president of the Zoological Commission from 1924 to 1928. His widow, Mary Rachkam, presented the fountain and reflecting pool to the zoo.
