    A contemporary female figure seen kneeling holding roses in her lap. She has shoulder-length hair, and wears a V-neck dress, with three-quarter length sleeves.

    The sculpture was commissioned by a coalition of local anti-abortion organizations. Sponsors included the St. Francis Respect for Life Committee, the Pro-Life Network, and the St. Francis Knights of Columbus Council, no. 8989. The sculpture was funded by the Washtenaw County Knights of Columbus. IAS files contain a related newsclipping from Ann Arbor News, April 11, 1994.
    Plaque in front of sculpture reads: A VOICE WAS HEARD IN RAMAH,/SOBBING AND LOUDLY LAMENTING:/IT WAS RACHEL WEEPING FOR HER CHILDREN,/REFUSING TO BE COMFORTED/BECAUSE THEY WERE NO MORE./"DEDICATED TO AN UNBORN CHILD"/(WASHTENAW COUNTY).
