A standing figure of a fireman rests top a granite base with an inscription encircled by the image of a fire hose. The fireman's proper left hand rests on his belt and a rope with hooks hangs on his proper right side. The fireman is dressed in the full firefighter's uniform, but instead of boots he wears shoes, a source of much controversy at the time.
