    Description: 
    The memorial is comprised of cement stadium seating with limestone panels in the front center of the stadium. The panels include a center limestone plaque of an angel leading a fallen soldier to his eternal rest. Panels list the names of Lansdowne residents (54 men and 1 woman) who attended Lansdowne High School and who died while serving in the military during World War II. Additionally, there are limestone panels behind the main panel.

    Remarks: 
    The memorial was designed by Lansdowne resident Roy F. Larson and the center panel was designed and carved by Edward Fenn Hoffman. The $32,306 raised for the memorial came from door-to-door solicitations, school performances and other enterprises. IAS files contain transcript of text and names on memorial and text of nearby interpretative signage. IAS files also contain copy of booklet "To Honor the Dead, To Serve the Living," detailing the history of Lansdowne's three war memorials, including the James T. Stewart Flagpole (IAS record PA001722) and the Lansdowne World War (I) Memorial (IAS record PA000102), with biographical information on the honored.
    IAS files also contain information on the Lansdowne Memorial Project conservation initiative spearheaded by Matthew Schultz (President of Greater Lansdowne Civic Association, and school children in Lansdowne, with related press clippings, 1997/98. The memorial was restored in 1998/99 by De Christopher Brothers. The severely deteriorated lower limestone panels were removed and new panels fabricated to match the originals. The entire memorial was desalinated, the mortar joints cleaned and repointed, and biological growth removed with a biocide. Graffiti and dirt removed. Interpretative signage was added to the site and lighting installed. The memorial was rededicated in Nov. 1998.
