    Description: 
    A semi-reclining boar is installed in a square planter. It balances on its two front legs while sitting on its proper left haunch. The sculpture's plinth holds flowers and plants and its decorative elements include tiny frogs and lizards and small flora and fauna.

    Remarks: 
    The sculpture is a copy of a mid-19th century bronze boar, cast after a 1577 stone boar made by Pietro Tacca and located in the Uffizi Gallery in Florence. (The mid-19th century version is part of a fountain in front of the Straw Market in Florence). The Woodstock boar was cast by Gino Lucarini and was brought to the United States in 1985. IAS files contain related correspondence from The Gilded Carriage.
