    Remarks: 
    Long was a former governor of Louisiana. The sculpture was commissioned in 1962 by the State Parks and Recreation Commission for the cost of $16,000. The sculpture was re-bronzed in 1993. IAS files contain copies of related commissioning contracts and correspondence between the artist, the state parks commission, and the Earl K. Long Park Commission. IAS files contain copies of related articles from Winn Parish Enterprise, Aug. 31, 1961 and March 21, 1963. IAS files contain transcriptions of nearby plaques.
